Hublot - Overstated Perhaps but Never Overrated
To dominate as a symbol of class, everyone knows never to flaunt an object’s true worth in crass style as if begging for attention, but to masterfully understate its value, in pretense that the world is unaware of its flagrant power; but don’t expect watch manufacturer Hublot to follow that philosophy any time soon.
The notoriously upbeat, high-end luxury brand is purposefully oblivious to the delicate line others tread to become a classic enigma, like the incomparable Rolex legend. Instead, Hublot progressively dances far beyond the periphery to wryly hold claim to its cutting-edge image.
Hublot vs Audemars Piguet (AP)–Seriously?
Hublot conscientiously sniffs around markets; it gets a high from releasing a series of innovative timepieces, yet Audemars Piguet (AP) has over a century’s lead on the young renegade, and is touted as the "World’s First" in high tech timepieces; so, how dare Hublot compete?
Well–because Hublot–can. The brand knows the multiplier-effect, effectively opening 30 upscale boutiques across America, Asia and Europe in as little as one year. Unlike David and Goliath, Hublot and AP are winners in their own right and with vastly different consumer appeal. Some luxury brand consumers believe that AP’s Royal Oak Offshore collection and Hublot’s Big Bang collection are the real models in competition than any private battle existing between the two Swiss pioneers.
One luxury watch to note in Hublot’s Big Bang collection—is the Black Caviar Bang—responsible for roping-in many starry-eyed new-comers to the brand. The piece’s rare precision-cut black diamonds, counted in the hundreds are accredited for its high ratings, not to mention its stellar functionality using the HUB Solo T movement with a power reserve of 120 hours; nice!
The "Hobnobbers" of Hublot - A Famous Line Up
For a brand that was born in 1980 and new in the China market, Hublot has blazed a trail for itself, even stepping on the heels of Cartier, Luis Vuitton and Burberry. But it’s the A-List of hob-nobbers who really gets your goat. In addition to partnering with NBA’s Miami Heat and Dwayne Wade, the official timekeeper of the World Cup with a large fan base in Miami, South Florida, Hublot has snatched up Jet Li as their Asian brand (see link), as well as secured high profile sponsorships across the sports world, including soccer and auto racing.
This maker of luxury watches is a formidable brand to reckon with and judging from Hublot’s love story with technology, it intends to be recognized as the leader in high-end watches for the next century.
