3 REASONS WHY AP IS BETTER THAN ROLEX – AP VS ROLEX BATTLE!
The Rolex vs AP debate goes a while back. On this video, Eric provides three reasons why he think that Audemars Piguet watches are better than Rolex.
We all know that Eric is a BIG fan of AP. He frequently mentions it in his videos. Nevertheless, he doesn’t hate the Rolex brand. Quite the contrary. In fact, he records this video wearing a gold Rolex Daytona from his watch collection! He just feels that in the luxury watch world, AP is more of a “next level” collector’s brand.
He says,
“Don’t get me wrong guys, I love Rolex. You cannot go wrong with it, but I wanna go over the reasons why AP is the next level beyond Rolex.”
3 Reasons Why Audemars Piguet is Better
Right after his introduction, Eric goes on to provide three reasons why he feels that in the AP vs Rolex battle, AP reigns supreme.
- AP is more “Next Level” – Even though Eric admits that a Rolex watch will likely outlast an AP because of its more industrially robust design, AP is still superior in terms of watchmaking and design; for example, Eric points out that one of the areas where Audemars Piguet beats Rolex is when it comes to watch complications (given that the most complex model in the Rolex arsenal is the Sky-Dweller, which in itself isn’t even that complicated).
- Audemars Piguet is a More Artistic Brand – Eric mentions that the AP luxury brand is a bit more avant garde; in other words, they are focused more on the artistic side of watchmaking than Rolex. Many watch collectors like more sophistication when it comes to their timepieces and complain that Rolex watches are just to plain for their taste. As Eric explains, there is just no denying that AP designs are more sophisticated and cooler looking overall in comparison to Rolex.
- AP Collectors are Part of a More “Exclusive” Club – To Eric, being part of the “AP Gang” definitely puts you on whole different level when it comes to watch collecting. On Average, models from the Audemars Piguet brand are relatively more expensive, which is why very few novice watch collectors acquire an AP as their first watch. This adds to their exclusivity. As Eric also points out, most everyday (non watch collecting) people know what a Rolex is. Whereas, the Audemars Piguet name is one that many outside of the watch world are not familiar with. This makes an AP watch a bit “stealthier” on the wrist and puts its owner in a more “privileged” position in the Watch Game according to Eric.
But where do you stand in the AP vs Rolex debate? Do you agree with Eric’s reasons or do you prefer the simpler Rolex design over AP? Make sure to leave your opinion in the comments of the YouTube video above.
